Wow it’s only May and we have 4 Dragonball set this year! This set as the name tells, is mostly about Gohan Beast, but that being said, sometimes we might get to see some Gems in the set, so without further ado, let’s check out the prizes!

For a list of past Kuji prizes, do visit Dragon Ball Ichiban Kuji Prize Index List

Prize A (2 pieces)

Top Prize Appearance: Debut!

Prize Rating:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Of course we kick off the top prize with a Gohan Beast form! He debuts this form in this series, although he made multiple appearances previously but it’s the first time he shows up in his Beast form! So even if you have the previous Gohan figure, you would to get this! Figure wise is Masterlise, which means expect bulky and good quality figure, I think Dragon ball is going to go Masterlise for future figures, hadn’t seen one non-Masterlise figure in a while. The figure stands 20cm tall, definitely worth getting for your collection!

Prize B (1 piece)

Top Prize Appearance: 7th, debut as Orange Form.

Prize Rating:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

I know most people are not a fan of Piccolo, I am not sure why, but he doesn’t appear that often but still you don’t see his popularity despite appearing early in the anime. Regardless, even if you have previous versions of Piccolo it doesn’t matter, because he makes his Orange form here, Orange Piccolo is also a Masterlise figure and stands at a massive 27cm tall, so definitely something you want to keep a lookout for! He is a unique piece though, so if you are looking to get him, do check for his availability!

Prize C (1 piece)

Top Prize Appearance: 5th, debut as Cell Max

Prize Rating:

Rating: 5 out of 5.

So I see some patterns for this set, everyone seems to have their ultimate form featured. Cell has pass debut as well but he makes his first appearance here as Cell Max! He looks absolutely gorgeous and he too is Masterlise and stands at 28cm tall! The tallest and biggest figure in the set! You should totally look out for him and you probably would want to keep him as well. Bigger figure are definitely one of the attractive features in this Kuji!

Prize D (2 pieces)

Top Prize Appearance: 2nd

Prize Rating:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Next we have Gotenks Super Saiyan and it’s his second appearance in the Kuji series, the previous time he has longer hair so if you need one or a short hair version, this is a good time to get him! He looks great as well and 2 pieces to go around, not bad overall. Still a Masterlise figure and stands at 17cm tall.

Prize E (1 piece)

Top Prize Appearance: Debut a non super saiyan form.

Prize Rating:

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Okay next we have Gotenks once again but what I don’t get is why are we getting 2 figures of the same body but different head color, like the only difference between D and E are the hair color and eyes, so why can’t we have alternate head or a C variant, I see no need to squeeze another figure as a different prize. Regardless, the figure is still nice, it’s a Masterlise and also stands at 17cm tall, I think normal fans wouldn’t want both D and E, like they look so similar, we could totally replace this with a totally different figure…

Prize F (1 piece)

Top Prize Appearance: 2nd

Prize Rating:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Well well, we have anyone appearance from Majin Buu, this figure is different from the previous release, also if you don’t have the previous version, good to have him now! I mean he is one of the villains so why not right. The figure is also a Masterlise and don’t be fooled by the size, it’s 27cm tall! So as tall as Piccolo! Definitely another prize to look out for!

Prize G (15 pieces)

Design: 5

Distribution: 5 x 3 pieces each. Blind box.

Prize Rating:

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Next we moved into the small prize list and we start with cups. The cups are nice, they are plastic cups with some of the top figures are the design, just that we have Shenron instead of Majin Buu. Not a bad prize, definitely usable at 12cm tall and can contain up to 300ml of liquid!

Prize H (24 pieces)

Design: 6

Distribution: 4 x 6 pieces each.

Prize Rating:

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Wow it’s been so consistent the last few sets to include some new small prizes! This is a layer stand, which is like an acrylic stand but instead of acrylic, it’s made of paper. The material used is quite durable and you can make a 3D stand, we have a few designs to choose from 3 Goku + Shenron in different arc, a group pic of the good guys, Gotenks + Gogeta + Goku, Cell + Androids, definitely a nice prize that you can walk away with and not feeling that you just wasted your money! Stand is 9.5cm tall.

Prize I (33 pieces)

Design: 4 small, 4 long

Distribution: 1 x 5 pieces. 7 x 4 pieces each.

Prize Rating:

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.

Last small prize to be able to pull from this set are towels. Same old towels, no creativity, just the characters in the top prize being featured in the small towel and some random logo of the anime featured in the long towel. I think at this point they can consider increasing the ticket cost and remove towels entirely, I think no one enjoys the towel nowadays.

Last Prize / Double Chance

Prize Rating:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

If you want a Prize A Gohan Beast but you can’t pull it, you can go for a buyout instead! The Last Prize is the same as the A prize, it’s Masterlise and 20cm tall, the only difference is the hand gesture! So a good replacement if you need just the figure! You can look for a 7- buyout or 14- with at least Cell or Piccolo or Majin Buu inside!

This is also a double chance prize so try your luck for this first before buying out!

Grading

Big Prize

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

A series of solid Masterlise figure, no complaints!

Small Prize

Rating: 3 out of 5.

The Cups and Layer stand is nice prize but the towels just have to make things look bad.

Last Prize

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

A good Gohan Beast Masterlise!

Variety of Prize

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.

Pretty standard 6 figures and 3 types of small prizes kind of Kuji, design are limited for the small prizes, they could have given us a few more stuff.

Odds of big prizes

Rating: 3 out of 5.

80 tickets and 8 figures, decent.

Value for Money

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.

You get a good chance at a Masterlise figure at the compromise of pulling some towels, but other than that you should get the value!

Collector’s Value

Rating: 3 out of 5.

See below

Overall: B-

Conclusion

A slightly below average Kuji but not the worst kind. I think this set has good figures, just a few question mark from our end, like the towels are bad, why D and E are similar but separated by prize. At least it’s good enough to keep the interest going.

Odds

Let’s calculate your odds to get the following with one ticket from a fresh board!

Chance to get a top prize (A to F): 8 / 80 = 10%, average

Recommendation

2 tickets for a chance at a figure or go for a good buyout!

Collectibles?

The Real Deal:

  • Prize A or Last Gohan Beast, Prize B Piccolo Orange, Prize C Cellmax: These are the essential figures for collection! They are all the hyper form of those characters and are unlikely to come out again, even if they do, you have already collected this set’s version!
  • Either Prize D or E Gotenks: I mean they look the same, just different form, if you are not too much of a Gotenks fan, either is find to look good for your collection.

Nice to have:

  • Prize H Layer Stand: Nice and unique prize, not hard to collect all as well, why not display them around your figures!

Collect only if you don’t already have:

  • Prize F Majin Buu: The previous version and this is not too different, so if you have the previous Majin Buu (not to be confused with Innocent Buu, you can skip the Prize F)

Skippable:

  • Prize G Cups: Good item to use, no needed for collection.
  • Prize I Towels: Because towels are not designed well, like they are just throwing it into the prize pool for the sake of it.
