Series Sequel: 52nd Dragon Ball Kuji set. 2nd in 2023

We are back with another Dragon Ball Kuji! This Kuji is a bit more expensive so I do hope that means that we will be getting better stuff from it. It also features ONLY Frieza Army so if you are a fan of the main characters and all, this set might not be for you, but regardless do stick around! Let’s see what prizes they have for us!

For a list of past Kuji prizes, do visit Dragon Ball Ichiban Kuji Prize Index List

Prize A (2 pieces)

Top Prize Appearance: 9th

Prize Rating:

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Of course we will have Frieza to kick off the set and this isn’t the first time his figure has set on his signature pod but it’s the first time this pose has been featured as a Masterlise figure! For those unaware, Masterlise is a heavy figure with a lot of detailed sculpt so expect very good quality for the figures! He stands at 18cm tall. If you already have a bunch of Frieza, this is a good figure to get as well since you get the Space Pod with it and the details are just amazing. 2 to go around so not that bad!

Prize B (1 piece)

Top Prize Appearance: Debut

Prize Rating:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Next we have Zarbon and if you intend to build your Frieza Army he is a must to get as well! He looks amazing and no fancy equipment just a serious pose, definitely worth your pull as he is the unique piece in the set. He is also a Masterlise figure and stands at 26cm tall!

Prize C (1 piece)

Top Prize Appearance: Debut

Prize Rating:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Continuing the Frieza Army members, next we have Dodoria and he looks amazing, he is the heaviest figure amongst all for obvious reason and he looks amazing and this is definitely the figure that is the most worthy if you count the raw materials required to make the figure. If you are collecting all the members, he is someone that you need as well. Also a Masterlise figure and stands at 24cm tall!

Prize D (1 piece)

Top Prize Appearance: Debut

Prize Rating:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Last big figure in the set, sadly, and also another member of the Frieza Army is Cui. He looks good as well and also a Masterlise, stands at 23cm tall and I am sad that there is only 1 piece of every non Frieza figure in the set, I mean for an expensive ticket price I would hope that they have given 2 pieces of each figure. So here’s hoping there are some prizes that can justify the expensive cost.

Prize E (6 pieces)

Design: 3

Distribution: 3 x 2 pieces each. Blind Box.

Prize Rating:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Oh yes that’s what I am talking about! We have mini figures as your consolation prize! The Dragon Archives Mini Figures has been a thing for the Dragon Ball franchise, if you have been collecting past figures you will want to get these as well! We have Guru, Frieza and Ginyu being featured and all are new to the lineup so amazing figures to add to your collection! Figure size is around 2.5cm tall (Ginyu is on his 4, so do understand) to 7cm tall. Definitely worth your ticket pulls!

Prize F (13 pieces)

Design: 6

Distribution: 1 x 3 pieces each. 5 x 2 pieces each.

Prize Rating:

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Okay, so they are giving only 5 figures for this set but they compensated us with mini figures and now they are giving us acrylic stand as another form of consolation prizes. I think that’s fine, the large acrylic stand has been a thing for Dragon Ball for the past few sets and they are usually done very well! We have Goku/Gohan, Bulma, Ginyu/Goku, Vegeta, Krillin/Gohan and Krillin/Frieza for the designs and all have their own appeal. It’s not blinded so do play early to pick the design of your choices! Each acrylic stand is 10cm tall so not too bad for a Kuji prize!

Prize G (28 pieces)

Design: 4 long, 4 small

Distribution: 4 long x 3 pieces each. 4 small x 4 pieces each.

Prize Rating:

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Normally I am not a fan of towels, but I think the designs here are pretty decent. I mean there are not the typical designs where they just put the characters from the top prize onto the towel, these feels that there are efforts made into them. You are going to pull them pretty often if you are buying a lot of tickets, so getting all 8 isn’t an issue.

Prize H (28 pieces)

Design: 8

Distribution: 4 x 3 pieces each. 4 x 4 pieces each.

Prize Rating:

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Last prize that you are able to pull will be Illustration Board and the A3 size board are back! We have the manga cover as the design and all of them looks nice in general. If you want to choose your designs, fret not, I think there are lot of them to go around and some buyers might not be choosey and will randomly select, so don’t worry too much about it.

Last Prize / Double Chance

Prize Rating:

Rating: 5 out of 5.

If you did not pull the A Prize and you really want a Frieza, buyout instead! The figure is the same one with the exception that he has a pointing finger, all else is the same, if you prefer this or if you just want a Frieza figure, you can look for a 9- buyout or 18- with at least one other figures inside and hopefully some mini figures!

This is a double chance prize as well, so you get another chance to win him!

Grading

Big Prize

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

All are Masterlise Figure, nothing bad at all!

Small Prize

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

The towels might be very downy for some of you, but the set does give nicer things like Acrylic stand and mini figures to make it look more appealing!

Last Prize

Rating: 5 out of 5.

A Frieza in a Space Pod is worth the 5 star, I mean you don’t usually get a figure with a vehicle.

Variety of Prize

Rating: 3 out of 5.

4 different kinds of small prizes, 4 different big prizes is quite decent, just hope the design for small prizes has more variety so there are more things to look out for.

Odds of big prizes

Rating: 2 out of 5.

80 tickets for only 5 figures is pretty bad, no sugarcoating on this one.

Value for Money

Rating: 3 out of 5.

You do get good things from the set, such as the mini figures and acrylic stand, even the illustration board is not too bad. Just that for the price we paid to get small towels seems a bit sinister.

Collector’s Value

Rating: 4 out of 5.

See below.

Overall: B

Conclusion

Prizes wise, this set is solid, if they could give more big figures this would have been a way better set.

Odds

Let’s calculate your odds to get the following with one ticket from a fresh board!

Chance to get a top prize (A to D): 5 / 80 = 6.25%, lower than average

Chance to get a figure prize (A to E): 11 / 80 = 13.75%, slightly higher than average

Recommendation

8 tickets for a chance at a figure if you want to get some Frieza Army or look for a good buyout!

Collectibles?

The Real Deal: Frieza, Zarbon, Dodoria and Cui and your essentials for the set! I mean you can’t have a Frieza Army without it’s people right, so if you want to collect, these are the essentials for the set! I doubt any of them will appear again, so here’s your best time to collect them! The Mini figures as well, they are all essential piece for the Dragon archives, so do find ways to obtain all 3 of them!

Nice to have: The acrylic stand are not bad to have, I mean they are nice enough for you to keep, so if you have all 6 it will look nice displaying around your collecting!

Collect only if you don’t already have: NA

Skippable: Towels and Illustration Board. I don’t see any of these being a continuation, so just collect the designs you like!
