Series Sequel: 50th Dragon Ball Kuji set. 6th in 2022.

I am not surprised, not anymore, that we get to see back to back Dragon Ball Kuji, this set features the Super Saiyan 3 and 4 characters so if you are not into those feel free to skip, at least the releases for the series are thematic so you don’t have to get everything if you are only into some of the characters! Let’s see what this set have for us!

For a list of past Kuji prizes, do visit Dragon Ball Ichiban Kuji Prize Index List

Prize A (1 piece)

Top Prize Appearance: Debut as Super Saiyan 3

Prize Rating:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Well great to kick things off with a uncommon Goku variant in the form of Crimson Masked Saiyan AKA Goku Black and he debuts as Super Saiyan 3! Great figure and very different from his previous releases so you can consider adding this to your collection. Figure this time round is Masterlise and also stands 25cm tall, so nothing bad at all, also a rare piece.

Prize B (2 pieces)

Top Prize Appearance: Debut as Super Saiyan Warrior in Black!

Prize Rating:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

We continue the mystery line up with Bardock, disguise as Warrior in Black Super Saiyan Gold. Nice figure no fancy pose just acting mysterious, definitely very different from previous Bardock and good for new and existing collector to keep this! Masterlise as well, 25cm tall and gladfully we have 2 pieces to go around!

Prize C (1 piece)

Top Prize Appearance: 3rd

Prize Rating:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

A returning character in the form of Goku Super Saiyan 3, he has 2 previous release with one looking similar to this, so I won’t be too concern that this is a rare piece, new collectors could get your hands on this piece if you didn’t manage to get the one released in 3rd mission set. Different pose compared to that, but not too much difference for existing non-hardcore collector to get both pieces. Masterlise and stands at 25cm tall.

Prize D (1 piece)

Top Prize Appearance: 3rd

Prize Rating:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

With Goku I expect Vegeta Super Saiyan 3 as well. Nothing bad, different pose from previous releases so for those who didn’t manage to pull him in the past you can consider getting him know. Surprising that he has 2 pieces to go around for a returning character but nevertheless still a 24cm Masterlise figure worth pulling.

Prize E (1 piece)

Top Prize Appearance: 2nd reissue

Prize Rating:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

So we end of the top prize list with Super Saiyan 3 Gogeta and unlike the others, this is a reissue of the figure that previously came out in Vs Omnibus Super Set with a variant in color, the pose and size is exactly the same. Masterlise and 25cm tall, this rare piece is mainly for new collectors or those who didn’t get the previous figure, so no obligation to get him if you don’t like it.

Prize F (12 pieces)

Design: 4

Distribution: 4 x 3 pieces each. Blind box.

Prize Rating:

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

We start the small prize list with plates, and they are relatively big at 15cm in diameter. They are plastic plates with edges so if feels a little different and the designs are decent with your usual Dragon Ball logos, just feel like they could have given more designs or more quantity of it for a better than average small prize.

Prize G (29 pieces)

Design: 8

Distribution: 5 x 4 pieces each. 3 x 3 pieces each.

Prize Rating:

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Next we have A4 Folder set, each set comes with 2 clear folder featuring 2 characters that has the same art and background similar to the card game. Not bad and if you played the cards you would really appreciate the design here. Only hope they given more variation since there are so many of this prize.

Prize H (32 pieces)

Design: 4 long 4 small

Distribution: 4 x 8 pieces each.

Prize Rating:

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.

We end things off with towels and the set is flooded with it, sad but not surprised as it is a common move for Dragon Ball. We have characters featured in the top prizes and we have both long and small variant, the design as always feels rushed and not precisely designed, but again no one is here for these anyway, so I guess we will just move on.

Last Prize / Double Chance

Prize Rating:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Another variant for Gogeta Super Saiyan 3, so if you really want this character and you couldn’t pull Prize E, you can consider a buyout to fulfil your collection. You can look for a 9- buyout or 16- with a non-E big figure left.

Also a double chance prize so you can have more than one attempt to get this.

Campaign Special

For those that played the card game, if you buy your tickets in Japan and you are the first 20 customers for the set, you will be able to get this limited edition card absolutely free! So play early, no minimum purchases of tickets, so if you want to get this piece, you just buy 1 ticket!

Conclusion

I feel that this set suffers for the wrong reason, they have good figures just not enough new characters or popular ones for people to really dive into the set, the small prizes are nice but not attractive enough to encourage fans to play as well. The odds are not as good too and no compensation of small prizes to cover that up. I do appreciate the campaign card as a nice touch but if someone just wants the card they play 1 ticket and get it over and done with. Something about this set just don’t feel special enough.

Odds

Let’s calculate your odds to get the following with one ticket from a fresh board!

Chance to get a figure prize (A to E): 7 / 80 = 8.75%, slightly lower than average

Recommendation

3 tickets for a chance at a figure.

Collectibles?

The Real Deal: Crimson Masked Saiyan and Warrior in Black are 2 characters that will attract fans to this set, so do lookout for them!

Nice to have: None

Collect only if you don’t already have: Super Saiyan 3 Gogeta, Goku and Vegeta have previous releases so if you need them, this would be a good time to do so, but if you already have them, just focus on the real deal.

Skippable: All small prizes are not important, they look nice, but feels like they are being there for the sake of it rather than for us to collect them in the long run.
